Report on HVE
A recent report in to “The Future of UK High Value Engineering (HVE)” prepared by RBS identifies that “half (53%) of UK manufacturers feel HVE technologies such as composite materials and additive manufacturing will make their business fit for the future”.
The report goes on to reference the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that 3T built in partnership with The University of Southampton and described by the New Scientist as “the world’s first printed plane“.
In addition to assessing the potential of additive manufacturing/3D printing, the report looks at the future opportunities in nanotechnologies, smart materials and composites. The report concludes that the traditional view of a bleak future for UK manufacturing is an out of date and false assessment; RBS believes that the outlook is much more positive with the opportunity for HVE to play a pivotal role in the growth of manufacturing and the country’s economy as a whole.
