Innervision Technology – iPad case for medical uses
The team at Innervision Technology has been working with the NHS for a number of years on projects that involve integrating mobile technology into health care. They identified an opportunity to produce a hard wearing, rugged iPad case for use in hospitals and other medical environments.
The Tough-PAC® iPad protector has to deliver complete protection for an iPad enabling it to be used in a harsh work environment. The case must be tough and durable. It also has to give protection against water ingress (to IP5 standard) and dust, be resistant to MRSA, discourage theft, be ergonomic to use and enable the iPad to recharged whilst being stored in its rapid access docking station.
Innervision Technology worked with 3T to produce a number of iterations of the Tough-PAC as the design was developed and refined. The prototype cases were used to demonstrate the product to potential customers and also for market testing.
Having a physical, high quality prototype to demonstrate the concept to customers proved invaluable. The company left the prototypes in potential customers’ hands and they were used in real clinical environments. Once they’d trialled Tough-PAC, customers were able to appreciate all its features and benefits and they placed orders.
Keith Smith, founder of Innervision Technology said: “Working with 3T has enabled us to get this product to market rapidly. By using Additive Manufacturing, we’ve not only significantly reduced development time and costs; we’ve been able to take the prototype to meetings about funding and also start selling the product and receiving real orders.
“Working with 3T, we received responsive and rapid customer service. They are a company that do what they say they’ll do, when they say they’ll do it. Also, as we were putting the prototypes into potential customers’ hands, it was vital that they were of high quality. 3T delivered on every level.”
Innervision Technology can see multiple marketing opportunities for this product. 3T will be working alongside them as they make any design changes to meet market specific needs.
