Plastic AM goes for gold

14 February 2013 ...

This week’s Cycling Weekly magazine features a gold plated Garmin mount produced by 3T for RaceWare Direct’s 1000th customer.  Produced using their plastic additive manufacturing process in Nylon 12, 3T then had the part copper-coated before receiving a 0.2mm 24-carat gold plating.  Worth £300, the lucky customer was Matt Gittings, who is The British National Derny champion.

3T currently produce between 200-300 Garmin mounts for RaceWare every week, showing the true mass production capabilities of plastic additive manufacturing for a production component.  Our case study tells the full story.
