Forces TV film documentary at 3T
It’s been a busy and exciting day at 3T as we welcomed a film crew from Forces TV into our manufacturing facility in Newbury. Filming a pilot technology show, presenter Matt Teale’s focus was on how 3D printing could revolutionise the way troops at the cutting edge are supplied with equipment and replacement parts, and asks the question “could 3D printers potentially put the quartermaster out of business?”.
The documentary will demonstrate how our plastic Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) process works from start to finish, from the initial CAD model and build set up, through to building, breaking out and blasting the finished part. We used a demo piece of a UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle or drone), taken from the UAV that we previously built for the University of Southampton. The University will be flying the UAV from HMS Protector in the South Atlantic shortly.
We’ll keep you posted on when the show will air – Forces TV can be viewed on Sky Channel 264, Virgin 277 and Freesat 652.
