Quality Standards

Having established ourselves as the UK’s leading plastic and metal additive manufacturing (AM) provider, we gained our third quality standard in April 2012; AS 9100 Rev C for the production of metal parts using additive manufacturing (AM). We already hold ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 13485:2003 Medical Devices and are the first AM Company in the UK to hold all three quality standards.

Having recognised the need for continuous commitment to quality assurance in our manufacturing processes, products, service and delivery, we obtained our first quality standard in October 2007. ISO 9001:2008 recognises that we have the necessary systems in place to provide the highest levels of customer service and satisfaction, and we now have preferred supplier status with many of our customers. This quality standard provided us with the framework from which to develop our service offering to other market sectors and in December 2008 we became the first AM provider in the UK to be awarded ISO 13485:2003 Medical Devices certification, and only the second in Europe, enabling us to supply certified components to the medical industry throughout the UK and Europe.

ISO 13485 is the international quality management standard for designers and manufacturers of medical devices, and is a pre-requisite for companies producing medical and biomedical products. In order to meet the regulatory demands of the medical sector, it was imperative that we obtained this additional certification. This consolidates our commitment to supply our customers with compliant devices that are safe and effective, whilst ensuring the traceability of all the materials and components we supply for their medical applications.

Having invested heavily in the necessary technology and personnel to develop our metal AM capability, we now supply 40% of the UK market and gained AS 9100 Rev C for the production of metal parts using additive manufacturing (AM) in April 2012. This is the international management system standard for the Aircraft, Space and Defence (AS&D) industry and provides suppliers with a comprehensive quality system for providing safe and reliable products to the aerospace industry. AS 9100 Rev C was released in 2009 and extends the previous standard to include the defence industry as well as aviation and space. The improved standard includes a greater focus on project management and customer satisfaction, which reflects our core values.
