Our First Year: A Report

2000/2001 saw 3T RPD complete its first full trading year and what a year it has been!

tim plunkettNo chance of a gradual ramp up; once it was known that we were operational, quotations and orders came thick and fast.  So fast in fact, that within five months we were contemplating additional machines to maintain deliveries.

At TCT 2000 we announced the acquisition of a further EOS P360 and a DTM selective laser sintering machine, effectively tripling our capacity and outstripping any other supplier in the UK.  The investment proved well timed, as by year end the additional capacity was vital in achieving and maintaining customer expectations.

Functionality is one of the key drivers behind SLS, selective laser sintering and 3T RPD has not only achieved some highly commendable tooling deliveries, but stretched the application of sintering into previously unheard of areas.  Batch sizes in excess of 200 sintered parts are a regular occurrence, with the components going forward for full test or replacing the alternative injection moulded part entirely.  Some of our forthcoming case histories will highlight just what has been accomplished.

The 3T seminar programme ran throughout the year and with the exception of a small hiccup caused by the fuel crisis, attendances were very good. These sessions have led to repeat performances with a variety of customers at their sites, helping to spread the message.

and Next Year.

There are plans for new materials, processes and, within the next 12 months, a move to larger premises. 3T will remain at New Greenham Park, but move from the 9 units currently occupied into a single 9,000 sq.ft. facility. News and progress will be brought to you via the website and newsletter as it happens.

In the meantime, we would like to thank all our customers for causing us so much work, we are truly grateful!  We look forward to continuing the established relationships into next year and forming many new ones.  The old adage "if in doubt, ask" is very true; please ask and if we cannot assist then we will suggest companies that can.

CEO
