Every Christmas 3T RPD Ltd donate all the money they would have spent on Christmas cards to a national charity, with the emphasis being on contributing to a worthwhile cause with long-term aims. 3T send a Christmas greeting by e-mail to their customers, prospects and suppliers, and for every person that responds via a link to the 3T website, £1 is donated to the nominated charity. For Christmas 2004 3T chose Bullying Online. Last year more than 6,000 parents and children emailed the online charity for advice, and thousands more visited the website. Many of those families were in great distress when they turned to them for help. Because they work in an innovative hi-tech way, they don’t need expensive offices and therefore don’t pay salaries. The trustees who work for this charity all give their time for free. This means that every penny raised is spent on running their website to help an increasing number of families. A total of £176 was donated to the charity. At Christmas 2003, 3T donated £238 to CLIC; Challenging Cancer and Leukeamia in Childhood, a national charity committed to providing the best possible support to children and their families throughout the UK. £150 was donated to When You Wish Upon A Star at Christmas 2002 - a charity that fulfils the wishes of children with life threatening and terminal illnesses. The highlight of each year is to charter 4 planes to take 400 terminally ill children to Lapland to see Father Christmas himself. 2001 saw 3T donating £223 to BLISS, the National Charity for the Newborn. BLISS works to give every baby born in Britain an equal start in life. In any one year, 1 in 10 babies born in Britain will require special hospital care and 1 in 100 will require the highest level of care. Sue Oram, Marketing Executive at 3T, said “Whilst a conventional Christmas card is always received with appreciation, they do end up being thrown away or, at best, recycled a week after Christmas! We toyed with the idea of buying charity Christmas cards, but really wanted to do something just that little bit different! The majority of our marketing communication is via e-mail newsletters and through our website, so this was the ideal solution.” More information on the Bullying Online charity can be
