3T RPD were delighted to receive a visit from a member
of the British Consulate team during his recent visit to New Greenham Park,
during which the variety and flexibility of business accommodation was highly
praised.
Trevor Novak, based in Toronto, Canada is a member of
the British Consulate team working with Inward Investors, and the visit,
organised by SEEDA (South East England Development Agency), enabled him
to gain an understanding of the potential opportunities for Canadian inward
investors in the region and to research the current business conditions
in the UK.
Mr Novak was met by a team from Greenham Common Trust, which owns and
manages New Greenham Park, and they explained the flexible accommodation
designed to meet the needs of growing businesses.
The visit to 3T allowed him to see for himself the potential of the business
units within the Enterprise Centre, and to witness a truly successful
venture in operation. He was given a demonstration of the latest laser
and moulding technology which creates cost effective, functional prototypes
for industries developing new products.
Formed in late 1999, 3T was initially funded by SEEDA, a Skills Development
Fund grant, private investment and "in kind" support from New Greenham
Park Enterprise Centre (NGPEC). Having rapidly expanded to occupy 9 units
and with a planned move to larger premises within the next 12 months,
3T has major aspirations in terms of growth in a sector that offers opportunities
to those that are innovative, deliver against forecasts and provide true
customer support.
The Enterprise Centre accommodates businesses on short term licence arrangements,
and
The Newbury Enterprise Hub, based in New Greenham Park, serves the Thames
Valley as a multi-media resource centre and independent broker of services
and support for SMEs, including business incubation. Companies will be
able to rent "hot desks" and workshop facilities by the day, and take
advantage of a whole support package of advice from the small business
service, training and business workshops and web development centre.
Chief Executive of the Trust, Stuart Tagg explained that the 150 acre
business park aims to achieve a controlled mix of different kinds of business
able to interact together. "We are committed to creating a thriving
business park for the benefit of Newbury and West Berkshire." he
explained. "We are continually improving standards of infrastructure
and business conditions for our tenants on the business park, and are
carefully planning a zoned and controlled mix of light and heavy industry
to create employment opportunities of all kinds."
