Paul is raising money for two worthy causes. Firstly, Leukaemia Research (includes Hodgkin's, Lymphoma and Myeloma), which is the official charity of the race. Secondly, Paul will be running in memory of Billy Bell, who sadly died earlier this year at the age of 71. People of the North East may remember Billy who was among the most successful non-league football managers in the region. He won the Northern league in four consecutive seasons between 1969-1973 with Evenwood, Spennymoor and Blyth Spartans. Billy also managed Tow Law Town when a young Chris Waddle was beginning his football career. Having been friends of the family for many years, Paul will be donating some of the money raised to a charity chosen by Billy's wife Toni and son Graeme. Paul says, "Having grown up in Newcastle upon Tyne I have always wanted to take part in this run since it started back in the early 1980's, but never actually got round to entering! Last year I decided to get fit again and thought that now would be a good time to enter. As with everything in life, having a target and a goal has meant I have achieved a lot more in training. I'm aiming to complete the course in under 2 hours, but as this is the furthest I've ever run I'll be pleased to actually complete the course." Any donations for sponsorships would be greatly appreciated. If you would like to sponsor Paul then please e-mail him with your details to paul@3trpd.co.uk.
