Metal AM Machines

Our state-of-the-art metal Additive Manufacturing (Direct Metal Laser Sintering [DMLS]) machines offer high performance, reliability and, more importantly, repeatability, generating consistent parts with the same mechanical properties over and over again.  They rapidly translate 3D CAD data into metal components with excellent detail resolution and part quality.

The latest M280 technology takes advantage of a ‘dual-spot’ laser allowing feature sizes as small as 0.4mm to be built.  With a machine build envelope of 250x250x325mm (including platform), many medium to small parts can be built in hours and days versus days and weeks using traditional subtractive manufacturing processes.

The DMC 835V is a highly versatile and multi-functional machine due to its proven and enhanced technical standards, maximum reliability, user-friendly handling and large work area. It is 20% faster to the finished workpiece, with state-of-the-art 3D software and reduced processing time with 30 rpm rapid traverse and short chip-to-chip times (5 seconds) with 1.6 second tool exchange time.

 

The DMC 835V Vertical Machining Centre provides us with the in-house ability to remove the supports from the DMLS components once they have been built, using accurate CNC machining methods.  Used in conjunction with a CAM package, it will also be used to machine 3D geometries onto the metal parts where the tolerances produced straight from the machine are not accurate enough or high quality surface finishes are required.  This equipment also gives us the option to modify components once they have been produced, with the addition of features such as holes or slots, that otherwise cannot easily be built on the M270 due to the support structures that have to be used.
